Anxiety (Young-Adult)
I’m walking down the street of Athens Avenue and I can’t help but look behind my shoulder for the umpteenth time. Is someone following me? Should I pretend to call someone? Because for some reason, that always makes me feel better. Should I text my father? Tell him where I am and to come pick me up? Maybe I should just go to one of these boutique stores or a diner that’s across the street. I look back once more and see a dark figure a little ways back. From the shadow, it looks male and he looks strong. This sends my anxiety to a whole different level...
Star Gazer (Young-Adult)
“Come on, it won’t hurt you to put your work down for just a second!” She says to me as she rushes around the living room. She had a large gray blanket — one of her favorites — draped over her arm and a soft, pink pillow was in her other hand. She reached over to grab another pillow and another blanket to match the ones she already had.
She was trying to get me to stop working so we could go outside into the backyard and look up at the stars. I never heard of such a ridiculous thing and if it wasn’t her asking I would have turned her down before the words even reached her mouth.
“Well, are you coming?” She prompts me with her wide brown eyes filled with hope. A worried expression was on her face, almost anxious for my reply. I nod stiffly and start to get up...
